ATTENDANCE
Attendance Matters
Regular attendance is vital for children's learning, progress, wellbeing, and social development. Every day in school provides valuable learning opportunities, and missing lessons can make it more difficult for pupils to keep up with their learning and reach their full potential.
Good attendance helps children develop positive routines, build confidence, maintain friendships, and feel part of the school community. We encourage all pupils to attend school every day unless they are genuinely unwell or there are exceptional circumstances preventing attendance.
Reporting an Absence
If your child is unable to attend school, parents/carers must notify the school at the earliest opportunity on the first day of absence, and each subsequent day thereafter. This can be done by telephone or email, stating the reason for the absence and the expected date of return, if known.
For medical or dental appointments during the school day, please notify the school in advance and provide evidence of the appointment, such as an appointment card, letter, text message, or booking confirmation. Wherever possible, appointments should be arranged outside school hours.
If no reason for absence is received, the school will contact parents/carers to ensure the child's safety and wellbeing.
